Home & Business CCTV
Closed Circuit Television or CCTV is a visible or covert video system intended for only a limited number of viewers. In CCTV the picture is viewed or recorded, but not broadcast. It was initially developed as a means of security for high-value properties and businesses. However, today it has been developed to the point where it can be used for domestic security, and for everyday surveillance.
A CCTV system can be as simple as a stand-alone system and it is becoming an industry standard for all digital video recorders to be viewable while away on holiday or business. By connecting the system to the internet you will be able to view your CCTV on a PC, smart phone or tablets where ever you are with an internet connection.
Patron Security Ltd can design, supply, install, maintain and repair all aspects of commercial and domestic CCTV systems throughout Kent and South East England including South London. We have knowledge from basic analogue systems up to fully functional monitored I.P network based and automatic number plate recognition systems.

Do I need to register my system with the ICO?
If the CCTV records any public images and stores the data yes your system will need to be registered.
Complete registration here: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/data-protection-fee/self-assessment/
How long will my system record for?
This is dependant on the system but it is possible to record images for a week, a month and even years. All data is recorded to hard drives, the bigger the hard drives, the longer your images will be saved.
What happens when it’s full?
Your Digital Video Recorder will record over old images when the hard drive is full. So if you have the capacity to record for 30 days, on day 31, day one recordings will be deleted to make room on the hard drive for day 31 recordings.
Can I make it record for longer?
Yes, there are several ways you can make the system record for longer which is dependant on your needs. You have lower the FPS (Frames Per Second), lower the image quality or switch on motion detection so that your DVR/NVR records only when motion is detected.
In a normal domestic situation, using motion detection could add weeks to your storage time, but there’s a price to pay. You’ll need to have the sensitivity on your motion detection quite high to ensure that you don’t miss anything. Increasing the sensitivity will mean that you will also record rain and possibly wind, especially if your cameras point to anything that moves in the wind.
Do the cameras light up at night?
If your camera has infrared, yes. There will be a small red ring of infrared lights that cast light that’s invisible to the human eye. Without this, your camera wouldn’t be able to see in the dark.
What is an IP CCTV Camera?
IP CCTV cameras are a new range of cameras, which offer high-quality images over computer type networks. You can record on a local computer or over the internet to a remote location.
What is an NVR?
An NVR is a Network Video Recorder, it runs with a computer type network and records images from IP CCTV cameras. Some computers with a high specification can act as a recorder. All you need is the right software.
Here are a selection of manuals to CCTV systems that Patron Security Ltd install, if yours is not on the list please contact us so we can get it uploaded as soon as possible.
